Anwar ‘praises’ EC’s long campaign period

KAJANG, Feb 6: The Election Commission (EC)’s decision to have the State legislative Assembly (DUN) by-election campaign in Kajang will be for 13 days, and this has received ‘positive’ feedback from PKR de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Overall, Anwar sarcastically praised the EC’s decision to provide one of the longest campaign periods in the history of by-elections.

He said that the issue of the length of election campaigns have been raised by various groups over the years and is finally being implemented by the commission.

2a“What is good about giving Anwar a long period of campaigning? This is the longest by-election campaign given by the EC to Anwar, which is for a month and a half,” Anwar said to 300 attendees at Taman Kajang new, here, yesterday.

The EC announced that the date of nomination will be held on March 11th whereas early voting will take place on the 19th March.

EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof disclosed the polling date which is on March 23rd, on the 5th of February.

Anwar explained that he would try his best to solve local problems such as traffic congestions and the provision of basic amenities.

He stressed that the by-election is a means to shake the nation by addressing monopolies and price hikes.
