PR can forget Putrajaya if Anwar loses Kajang

Subang Jaya, Feb 6th: Pakatan Rakyat (PR) can forget about winning (14th General Elections) GE-14 and in doing so, conquer Putrajaya if they lose the State Legislative Assembly by-election in Kajang on March 23rd.

This is following the matter of the victory of the PR candidate at the Kajang by-elections which, according to PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, will not only strengthen their hold on Selangor but also serve as a jumping stone in capturing Putrajaya.

DAP Chairman, Tony Phua said that this has also dawned on BN who will surely resort to dirty political tactics to ensure that PR loses the second by-elections post GE-13.

“The Kajang by-elections are significant. If Anwar loses Kajang, PR will end, forget GE-14, forget ‘ubah’, forget change, forget ‘reformasi’,” he added.

3a“BN will do anything because they are aware that if PR ends, so does Anwar’s political career and PR brief ‘life’,” he said in conjunction with an event explaining the Kajang Measure held at Empire Hotel, here, yesterday.

Tony Phua urged Kajang voters to ensure Anwar’s victory so that PR can lead the central administration and simultaneously undo some of the harm done by BN for the duration of their reign.

Also, in summarising the role of Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as Chief Minister, he described Abdul Khalid as 100% dedicated to ensuring the smooth running of the government so much so that Selangor has achieved all sorts of success in mere six years than all the 50 years under BN administration..

“I am a strong supporter of Abdul Khalid. Remember the issue of the Talam Corporation? I am also trying to help shed light so that people know the truth regarding the debt issue, “he said.

PAS Research Director, Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad explained the step in emptying the kajang seat was followed by naming Anwar as candidate, is a strategic move known as ‘forward defence’.

3bHe expounded on forward defense as a military tactic whereby a state launches a preemptive attack in order to defend one’s borders from being breached.

“This move is full of risk but only those with risks have a high returns,” he elaborated.

Dr Dzulkefly also stressed that although PKR did not consult with either PAS or DAP before the issue of Lee Chin Cheh’s resignation as Kajang’s representative at the Legislative Assembly, both parties still stand with PKR in effort to secure Anwar’s victory at the by-elections.

Apart from Phua and Dr Dzulkefly, the forum also featured PKR strategy director, Rafizi Ramli and former chairman of Bersih 2.0, Datuk S Ambiga.

The forum was chaired by the Deputy Speaker of the Selangor State Assembly (DNS), Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad and was attended by an estimate of 200 attendees.
