SHAH ALAM, 27 Mar: Families of passengers on board flight MH370 have started accepting the reality of the tragedy on a conditional basis, said the deputy director of the Department of Psychology Management, Department of Public Service, Dr Abdul Jalil Hassan.
He said it means under the current situation family members can only receive updates if there was relevant evidence.
“However, there are also family members who can accept the fact with an open mind,” he told reporters at the Everly Hotel here Wednesday.
However, he said that facing the families on the 18th day is easier because they have approached them since the first day of the incident.
Citing a report from BERNAMA, Abdul Jalil said those able to receive any development with an open heart can handle the reality and accept it faster compared to those with conditional acceptance.
He added that the manner of counselling service provided for families who face any crisis or incident was generally divided into two forms, namely emotional and cognitive.
Dr Jalil said the emotional service was usually for those with moderate education whereas the cognitive was for those with higher education.
