CM: Negeri Sembilan Government Should Give Free Water to the People

SHAH ALAM, 20 Apr: The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, urged the Negeri Sembilan Government to emulate the Selangor Government’s administrative practice by giving 20 cubic metres of free water to the people.

Speaking to reporters at Telok Kemang yesterday, Abdul Khalid stressed that the Selangor Government stands by their decision to not accept the offer of water sale, as offered by the Chief Minister of Negeri Sembilan, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan.

Abdul Khalid considers Mohamad’s offer as a good and close friend when Selangor is facing a water crisis.

“Since we do not want to buy water, as offered, I suggest for him to give free water to the people of Negeri Sembilan.

“Some have criticised my actions, however what I did was justified,” he said through the Sinar Harian newspaper report.

He further explained that the offer made was too small compared with the needs of the whole of Selangor, where they need 100,000 million gallons of water a day, in addition to the cost of purchasing the water, which is too high.

“It is like giving 10 cents when the need is RM1.

“So I think that it would be better for us to find other alternatives or water sources from Selangor for the prosperity of the people,” he said after the Friendly Session with PKR Leaders with the people at the food stall in Batu 6, Telok Kemang.
