Tun Daim’s Investment in Tanzania Dubious, Strange

SHAH ALAM, 25 Apr: The actions of the former Minister of Finance, Tun Daim Zainuddin, in choosing Tanzania as an investment location are dubious.

The Terengganu PKR Chairman, Azan Ismail, said that this is because it is difficult for that country to disclose any information to outside parties.

“We all know that when investing in Tanzania, it is difficult to get them to cooperate to obtain information, even if we want to conduct investigations.

“What is wrong with investing in Malaysia if there is no fraud? That is why Daim choose Tanzania for him to invest,” said Azan, quoted from Keadilan Daily.

Previously, the PKR de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in the Reformation 2.0 tour talk in Lembah Pantai, on 20 April, revealed that Daim has a bank in Tanzania.

He suspects that Daim abused his power through the establishment of the bank.

Anwar also revealed the detention of an individual, who is allegedly involved in the bank, at an incident at the Heathrow Airport in London.

Azan also reminded that Daim also served as the Umno Treasurer-General and the Minister of Finance.

“Fraud can happen. (Perhaps) investment had to be done outside the country so that his secret will not be revealed.

“At that time, he was the Minister of Finance and could have used his position to invest in Tanzania. That is why I think that his actions are very strange,” said Azan.
