MH17 Tragedy: Weapons supplier should be penalised

KUALA LUMPUR, 23 July: The supplier of the weapon that shot down the MAS MH17 aircraft last Thursday should be brought to justice.

The Member of Parliament for Bagan, Lim Guan Eng, in his speech said that he takes this matter seriously, in addition to supporting the motion to bring those responsible to justice.

“DAP stand in very clear; we support this motion because in the time of crisis we should unite as a country to show the world that we strongly condemn the MH17 tragedy in which the MH17 aircraft was shot down.

“We want to show the killers that they too have to be brought to justice.

“The supplier of weapons should be brought to justice,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby.

The DAP Secretary-General explained that the party also supports the government’s efforts to bring back the bodies as soon as possible, in addition to the successful recovery of the aircraft’s black boxes.

During the debate of the motion to condemn the attack against the MH17 aircraft at the House of Representatives, 10 Parliamentarians from Pakatan Rakyat and 12 Parliamentarians from Barisan Nasional were chosen to debate.

The MH17 aircraft carrying 298 passengers, including 15 crew members, departed from Amsterdam at 12.15 (Dutch time) last Thursday and was scheduled to arrive at Kuala Lumpur at 6.10am (Malaysian time) on Friday.

The Boeing 777 aircraft was believed to have been shot down, but so far, no one has claimed responsibility.
