SHAH ALAM, 20 Sept: The Shah Alam City Fun Ride organised by the Malaysian Islamic Art & Tourism Souq, in collaboration with the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), is believed to be able to increase the attractiveness of Shah Alam among tourists.
The Tourism Selangor Domestic Marketing Department Director, Datuk Musa Yusuf, said that the programme is to introduce interesting places around Shah Alam for people who own bicycles.
“Participants will ride through eight tourist attraction spots starting with the Shah Alam State Mosque, the Islamic Art Complex, the Shah Alam Museum, the Section 7 Art Site and many more.
“This programme is also intended to encourage people riding bicycles to visit the city of Shah Alam,” he told reporters today.
A total of 680 cyclists participated in the 20 kilometre programme which started at Dataran Shah Alam to the Section 7 Art Site before ending back at the Islamic Art Complex.
The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
“There were on-going activities throughout the day including the Islamic Art Exhibition, blood donation, a calligraphy contest, workshops for women and a lucky draw.
“Along with MBSA and Tourism Selangor Berhad, we will improve and introduce more uniqueness of Shah Alam to tourists,” he said.
