Anwar: Pakatan will remain harmoniously strong despite being badly pushed

KUALA LUMPUR, 27 Oct: Pakatan Rakyat (PR) today made the decision to remain in consensus and strengthen relations between the three component parties in the coalition to face various political challenges.

The PKR de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said that the consensus is achieved through a meeting between the top PR leaders which took place in Parliament this evening.

“The leadership today did not only state to continue (in the coalition) but to strengthen relations despite being pushed by various challenges, including leaders facing the Sedition Act,” he said during a media conference.

Meanwhile, the DAP Secretary General, Lim Guan Eng, said that they will continue to fight to the end in stating their support for Anwar who may face a prison sentence in the last hearing tomorrow.

“If something unwanted still happens, the PR top leadership will have an emergency meeting to discuss if (Datuk Seri) Anwar is jailed.

“This is to show the integrity and firmness achieved in PR,” said the Chief Minister of Penang.

The Chief Minister of Selangor, Mohamed Azmin Ali, stands that the prosecution against Anwar is politically motivates and is intended to end his career as a leader.

He also challenged Putrajaya to take this opportunity to free the court from political influence.

“Our stand from the beginning is that this prosecution is politically motivated. That is why we need to defend Datuk Seri Anwar because he did not need to be prosecuted, even from the first day.

“Putrajaya should take this opportunity to free the court from political influence.

“We are certain that Anwar is innocent and we are taking this opportunity to strengthen ties in PR,” said the PKR Deputy President.

The appeal results in the case involving Anwar and his former aid will be heard at the Federal Court on this Tuesday and Wednesday.
