Urge the government to reduce RON95 price although RON97 is down by 20 cents

SHAH ALAM, 18 Nov: The PKR Vice President, Rafizi Ramli, called on the people to continue to put pressure and urge the central government to reduce the price of petrol, despite the price reduction of RON97 petrol.

“This morning I announced that if the RON95, RON97 and diesel prices are not reduced by December 1, 2014, we will have a massive demonstration on December 31, 2014.

“Tonight, the price of RON97 went down by 20 cents. Continue to pressure Barisan Nasional,” said Rafizi on Facebook.

The price of the RON97 petrol will be reduced by 20 cents to RM2.55 per litre starting November 19.

The last price change of the premium petrol was in September, with an increase of 15 cents, making the price RM2.75 per litre.

It was confirmed by the Malaysian Petroleum Dealers Association.

The Finance Ministry has sent a letter to Petronas Dagang Berhad regarding the reduction of the fuel prices today.

The retail price of RON97 is determined by the managed float system and the price will vary according to market forces.

The price of RON97 peaked at RM3 per litre in September last year.

In October this year, the price of RON95 petrol and diesel rose by 20 cents per litre in the government’s effort to rationalise subsidies.

Previously, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) planned to hold a massive demonstration if the central government refuses to reduce the fuel price by December 1.
