SHAH ALAM, 26 Nov: The Selat Klang Assemblyman, Dr Halimah Ali, welcomes the establishment of the Darul Ehsan Institute (DEI) which was announced by the Chief Minister of Selangor when presenting the Selangor Budget 2015 recently.

“It is a good programme and I hope that this network of scholars can continue scholar roadshow programmes which I established previously,” she said when commenting on the announcement of a RM2 million allocation to establish the Darul Ehsan Institute (DEI).

Prior to this, Mohamed Azmin, when presenting the budget, said that education investment is not just for the future, but an initiative with students lecturers, alumni and the community, particularly the people of Selangor.

Meanwhile, the Assemblyman for Ijok, Dr Idris Ahmad, when touching on the International Works Translation Programme which is being regulated by the Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) in the budget, said that the state government should focus on efforts to strengthen the mastery of the national language and the English language.

“We have to make our language mature but if we want to find the source, almost all is in the English language.

“Now, we are exposed to knowledge and becoming increasingly global, but if we are confined to our language, asking people to translate will be limited.

“If we have good command of language, we would understand the books that we want to translate and there is no need to translate them. A broader scope,” he said when met at the Selangor State Assembly session today.

Dr Idris also suggested for educational provisions to be increased to build a stronger foundation for education.

Among the desirable measures include the introduction of tuition programmes that are not limited to students who will be facing examinations and programmes involving pre-school students.
