SHAH ALAM, 9 Dec: The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) does not only carry out development projects for the sake of profit but is also involved in various programmes to defend the fate of the people.

The Exco for Housing, Building Management and Urban Life, Iskandar Abdul Samad, said that PKNS is much involved in saving abandoned projects and has also been invited for the discussion regarding the expansion of five villages that have faced problems recently.

“There are some that say that PKNS focuses on profit and does not think about the welfare of the people. This is not true because PKNS is actively helping to restore abandoned projects.

“There are five village expansion projects in Selangor which were previously abandoned. The projects were initiated by the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) with the construction companies. Most of them were abandoned because they did not include the overall cost of the project,” he said during a media conference today.

Iskandar said that as a result of that the JKKK had problems carrying out the projects as they had to sell it at a low price and bear the deficit expenditure.

He said that most of the projects are at a dead end by being abandoned for five to 10 years.

“The state government is inviting PKNS to complete it, find solutions and present it at the PKNS Board of Director’s meeting,” he said.

Previously, PKNS was involved in restoring several abandoned projects including the Bukit Botak project in Selayang.
