SHAH ALAM, 7 Feb: The Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism is being continuously urged to monitor the prices of goods in the market that is still high despite the drop in petrol price is already in force since early February.
The Vice President of the People’s Justice Party (PKR), Rafizi Ramli, said that there are two powers that the minister responsible has that can help lower the prices of goods, this includes setting prices for primary commodities regulated by the government such as oil, main food and so on.
In addition, he said that decisive action needs to be taken against traders who break the law in setting the prices of goods that it burdens the people, especially people with low income.
“Hardcore Umno supporters urged me to campaign? Lower the prices of goods? While the power is in the hands of the minister.
“The main task of Datuk Hasan Malek is to control and monitor prices, his job is not to just officiate hypermarkets,” he said on Facebook.
Rafizi also cynically questioned Hasan’s actions in controlling the prices of goods, which has not shown any signs of decrease until today.
“I debated with him in Parliament regarding the price of sugar, chicken and other goods.
“He could not answer on sugar, and chicken (prices) could not be controlled. What kind of minister is this?” he said.
