SHAH ALAM, 18 Feb: The Gombak Setia Constituency Community Service Centre held a programme where mandarin oranges were distributed in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration.

Oranges were distributed to the local residents, especially the Chinese community, at the Sri Gombak Night Market.

The Gombak Setia Assemblyman, Hasbullah Ridzwan, said that 100 boxes of mandarin oranges were distributed and received good response from visitors and stall operators.

“Despite the heavy rain that began late in the afternoon, the spirits of the officers were not deterred from distributing oranges to the public.

“The giving of oranges is a sign of mutual respect for other races’ celebrations, as long as it does not violate Islamic law,” he said.

Also participating in the programme was the Gombak DHPP representative, Kong Tuck Wah, and several young members of Gombak PAS.
