Continue the late Nik Aziz’s fight to uphold Islam

SHAH ALAM, 20 Feb: The effort to develop and continue the struggle of the late Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat is more important than campaigning for his rank and title.

State Exco, Zaidy Abdul Talib, said that the late Nik Aziz himself never pursued title and fame during his lifetime.

“What needs to be seen and continued is his struggle to uphold Islam in Malaysia, especially in demanding the implementation of Hudud in Kelantan.

“Moreover, appreciation is a gift and not something that should be demanded of,” he told Selangor Kini.

He said this when asked to comment on the need to give special recognition to the former Chief Minister of Kelantan, whether in the form of a title or others.

Commenting on the same question, the Paya Jaras Assemblyman, Khairuddin Othman, however was of the opinion that appreciation in the form of the title ‘Tun’ can be given by the central government.

“Personally, I agree to it as a sign of respect to Tok Guru, but it all depends on Tok Guru’s family on whether they want to accept it or otherwise,” he said.

The late Nik Aziz breathed his last breath on Friday night at his home in Pulau Melaka about an hour after returning home from the University of Science, Malaysia, Hospital (HUSM).
