Payment of RM1,000 to Shafee illogical

KUALA LUMPUR, 11 Mar: The Bakri Member of Parliament, Er Teck Hwa, is not satisfied with the reply of the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Nancy Shukri, or the Deputy Public Prosecutor, Tan Sri Shafee Abdullah, who was only paid RM1,000 throughout the court proceedings for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s case.

He questioned whether the charges involved three different court proceedings.

“Is it true (the cost of RM1,000) throughout the High Court, Court of Appeal and Federal Court was borne by the government?” he said during a brief new conference at the Parliament lobby today.

For the Kapar MP, G Manivanan, the RM1,000 is deemed illogical and unreasonable.

“To obtain service at RM1,000 already opens up space for us to speculate.

“With his experience and his involvement, including travelling throughout Malaysia, the RM1,000 seems to give us a question mark.

“Perhaps this is no the actual figure of there is a story behind the actual figure,” he said.

Prior to that, during a question and answer session at the Dewan Rakyat in the morning, Nancy said that the payment was made by the Attorney General’s Office to Shafee.
