PERMATANG PAUH, 4 May: PKR appreciated the continuous support and help by PAS, especially throughout the Permatang Pauh by-election campaign.
The PKR Deputy President, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that this proves that only the close cooperation between all parties in Pakatan Rakyat (PR) is capable of overthrowing the tyranny of the Barisan Nasional (BN) government.
“I would like to express thanks to all voters in Permatang Pauh, especially in Permatang Pasir, and also on behalf of PKR, I am indebted to the PAS leadership of the area, state, and central, for providing support.
“We can bring about change for the sake of the country and Malaysians overall, God-willing. May God bless our efforts,” he said.
Mohamed Azmin said this when delivering his speech at the compound of the Permatang Pasir State Legislative Assembly People’s Service Centre.
Prior to this, the Deputy President of PAS, Mohamad Sabu, said that the relationship between PAS, PKR and DAP must be strengthened to ensure PR’s victory in the next general election.
He explained that history has proven that BN can only be overthrown through cooperation between parties like PAS’ victory in taking over Kelantan in 1990 through cooperation with Semangat 46, Terengganu in 1999 through cooperation in Barisan Alternatif, and Perak in 2008 through cooperation with the opposition party at the time.
In addition, he said that DAP’s success in taking over Penang and PKR in taking over Selangor are also through the cooperation built to face the same opponent, which is BN.
