Defence Camp should provide explanation on sending troops to Yemen

SHAH ALAM, 11 May: The Ministry of Defence needs to explain the issue of sending troops to Yemen in a joint military operation with the Arab Saudi Alliance to attack the country.

The Malaysian Youth Solidarity (SAMM) National Coordinator, Asrul Nizam Abd Jalil, said that the government must also disclose military assets and expenses used for the operation.

“Hishamuddin Hussein is urged to issue an official statement to deny Malaysia’s involvement as the 12th team after Senegal in the Saudi Alliance,” he said.

Azrul Nizam said that the involvement of the Military Alliance led by Saudi is similar to non-humanitarian military operations.

“Malaysia, as a member of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), should not have participated in this military operation.

“Even though the Federal Government is facing financial problems and 1MDB, they should not have sent troops to Yemen to seek funds from Saudi Arabia,” he said.
