1MDB: If it is wrong, then action can be taken

SHAH ALAM, 29 June: The Federal government has been urged to face the people on every question regarding 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

The Pokok Sena MP, Datuk Mahfuz Omar, said that legal action can only be taken after facing all problems, including suspicious transactions.

He said that the matter of defamation also depends on if the government is found to be clear from all allegations leveled against the investment body.

“This is not a matter of defamation, but a challenge. Face the challenge and answer all questions.

“Face it first, why take action. If it is wrong, then action can be taken or consider it defamation,” he said, taken from Sinar Harian.

Yesterday, the Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industries, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, said that decisive action must be taken against those who have defamed the government and the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, regarding 1MDB.

Prior to this, Sarawak Report revealed suspicious transactions concerning 1MDB which was allegedly obtained from the former Executive of PetroSaudi International Ltd (PetroSaudi), Xavier Andre Justo.

In relations to that, Mahfuz said that the recommendation is merely to cover up the government’s weaknesses.

“The allegations raised are demands for the government to answer all confusion,” he said.
