Haze: 13 areas record unhealthy API

SHAH ALAM, 16 Sept: The Air Pollutant Index (API) recorded as of 11 am today shows unhealthy air quality in 13 areas.

Meanwhile, 30 areas are at a moderate level and 9 other areas are in good condition so far.

According to the Department of Environment portal, the highest reading was recorded in Sri Aman (164), Kuching (146), Sarikei (145) and Samarahan (145).

Shah Alam registered an unhealthy air quality of 108 while other areas in Selangor that recorded a moderate air quality are Port Klang (97), Kuala Selangor (72), Petaling Jaya (97) and Banting (91).

In addition, other areas that registered an unhealthy air quality are Balok Baru, Kuantan (124), Jerantut (101), Tawau (122), Kapit (116), Sibu (133), Kemaman (124), Kuala Terengganu (101) and Paka (120).

API readings between 0 to 50 is good, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and 300 and above (hazardous).

The air quality in the Federal Territory, Putrajaya, Johor, Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, Perlis and Penang recorded a moderate air quality.
