Low visibility in waters, danger to ships

SHAH ALAM, 1 Oct: Low visibility of less than 5 km involving waters in Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Malacca, Johor, Pahang and Sarawak, is expected to continue until Saturday.

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), this situation is dangerous to ships that are not equipped with navigational tools.

“The same situation is happening in the waters of the Straits of Malacca, Bunguran, Kuching, and Reef South, and is expected to continue until Saturday,” explained MetMalaysia in a statement.

The waters include 19 areas affected by the haze in the country as of 9 am, with recorded unhealthy Air Pollution Index (API) of over 101.
