Selangor over exchanged 650 acres of reserve land

SHAH ALAM, 19 Sept: The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that they are committed to taking care of Malay reserve land by requiring an exchange if there is a need to cancel land that is to be developed.

Mohamed Azmin said that usually the government must exchange Malays reserve land that has been developed because it is enshrined in the National Land Code 1965, however Selangor has over exchanged by about 650 acres of land since last year.

“Malay reserve land is among my priorities by ensuring that land that has been cancelled and developed must be replaced with the same value, as provided in the National Land Code.

“I am grateful that Selangor has over replaced 650 acres of land and guarantees that reserve land will be maintained and have value in the future,” he said after officiating the Sacrificial Cattle Presentation Ceremony in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha at the Sultan Idris Shah Building today.

Prior to this, the Dewan Negara President, Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang, proposed for the government to establish the Land Tribunal to regulate the sale and purchase of the people’s land, especially involving Malay reserve land.
