AMPANG, 18 SEPT: Suraus in traditional villages in Selangor will be rebuilt based on a new standardised design fully funded by the state government.

The Chief Minister of Selangor, Azmin Ali, said the construction costs are outlined in Budget 2016 that will be announced on 30 October.

“We are drafting Budget 2016 and looking at developing suraus in traditional villages that are mostly rundown and in need of reconstruction,” he said.

He was speaking at the handover ceremony of contributions amounting to RM43,000 to the Jami’ilhuda Mosque in Kampung Melayu Ampang here today.

The ceremony was attended by Lembah Jaya assemblyman, Khasim Abdul Aziz.

The contributions were handed over to the nazir of Jami’ilhuda Mosque, Khalid Basri, to finance the purchase of new carpets and other expenses.

Mohamed Azmin said that mosques and suraus across Selangor must be enlivened with religious activities to ensure a pious community.
