PETALING JAYA, June 12: PKR today revealed a video showing the Bagan Datok Parliamentarian, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi violating the Election Offences Act 1954 in a press conference at the party headquarters today.
PKR Strategy Director, Rafizi Ramli said that from the video, two petitions were filed separately to declare the 13th General Election (GE-13) results for the seat is invalid.
Seperate petitions were filed at the Malaya High Court in Ipoh this morning by former parliamentary candidate for Bagan Datok, Madhi Hasan and voter, Azmi Sulaiman.
Also present was Madhi and legal counsel, Edmund Bon Tai Soon.
They have also posted three videos related to Zahid Hamidi violating the Election Offences Act 1954.
The video, dated 19 April, showed evidence that the respondent indirectly, through an individual, S. Ramalingam, gave RM100 in cash and five bags of 1 kilograms of rice with the Barisan Nasional logo printed on it to 1,000 people who were present at the Sanmarka Hall in Hutang Melintang.
Meanwhile, two other videos showed Zahid admitting to appointing and taking 24,000 machinery people by cash payment and by giving rice.
Rafizi claimed for the offences, the respondent (Zahid) is said to have violated the law under Section 21 (1), Section 21 (2) Part IV for recruitment and Section 10 (a) Part III and Section 32 (c) for bribery and corruption.
“The videos shown clearly prove that the respondent violated the election offences (act).
“Zahid feels that he is clever by giving money to the machinery, however he only received 17,000 votes which means that the other 7,000 votes shows that his machinery did not vote for him,” Rafizi teased.
Rafizi added that the evidence actually shows that Zahid spent more than RM2 million to give out ‘candy’.
“As of today, PKR has filed 19 petitions. We will share the information regarding the petitions from time to time. This evidence will be brought to court,” he said.
In the recent GE-13, Zahid won the parliamentary seats with 17,176 votes thus defeating Madhi with a majority of 2,108 votes.
It is understood that the petition will also be send to Zahid at a time to be determined later.
