DENGKIL, July 26: Families with incomes below RM3,000 will start enjoying schemes under the Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor (MES) agenda such as fee assistance for nurseries, kindergartens and gifts for children who enter university.
The police to expand the eligibility to receive the MES assistance it to ensure that no group is left out from the economic prosperity of Selangor, said Welfare Exco, Rodziah Ismail.
Previously, most of the MES programmes are only for families with a household income of RM1,500 and below.
“Now we are looking to help the lower-middle class. We will increase our focus on those earning RM3,000 and below now.
“Which means that we looked at another group of society and how we could help and we finally looked at Selangorians who earned above RM1,500.
“Now we are looking at a number of policies, such as the gifts for IPTA (public institutes of higher learning). Previously we awarded prizes to those earning RM1,500 and below. Now we are making it so that those earning RM3,000 and below are eligible.
“Also with the Si KEMBAR and TUNAS scheme, we will also target those who earn RM2,500 and below, and for those earning RM3,500 and below, we will look at the needs of the family.
Rodziah said this when she was mat at the Ramadan Charity Tour Programme with the Selangor State Welfare Exco here at Kampung Changgang yesterday evening.
After successfully administering Selangor after the 12th General Election, the Selangor PR Government started to introduce various schemes under the MES agenda which now has 16 schemes.
Among the schemes introduces is the University Entrance Gift, the People’s Nursery Assistance Scheme (Si KEMBAR), the Selangor Kindergarten Assistance (TUNAS), the Senior Citizen Scheme (SMUE), the Free Water Scheme and the Selangor Children’s Heritage Fund (TAWAS).
Meanwhile, during the programme yesterday, 500 packets of Lambuk porridge and dates were distributed to the visitors of the Ramadan Bazaar at Kampung Bukit Changgang.
