KUALA LUMPUR, 15 Apr: PAS Youth today announced the declaration of assets by all their candidates who will be contesting in the 13th General Elections (GE-13).

This declaration was officiated by the PAS Deputy President, Mohamad Sabu, in a press conference here at the PAS headquarters.

According to Mat Sabu, this is part of their effort to place candidates who have integrity when they do receive the trust of leadership.

He added that the need for a candidate to declare assets is necessary so that the people can know the extent of a leaders’ transparency to earn the trust of the people.

“So that those entrusted must be provided with a corresponding reward by the government to carry out their duties and they will no longer be involved in raking in property when performing their duties.

“We need to start and strengthen this effort and what is being implemented by PAS Youth is very good,” said Mat Sabu.

He said that the effort is to ensure that cases of possession of property like the Sarawak Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, who has an incredible amount of wealth, does not happen when Pakatan Rakyat (PR) administers Putrajaya.

“Hopefully the public’s view of politicians, of wanting to see a candidate with integrity, can be seen,” he said.

During the press conference Mat Sabu received the property declaration form from nine PAS youth candidates who will be competing in the GE-13.

Meanwhile 11 PAS Youth members will do so after the official declaration of candidates that will be done in the near future.
