SHAH ALAM, 15 Apr: The announcement of PKR candidates for Parliament and Selangor State Legislative Assemblies (DUN) yesterday is based on candidates who can win, said Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

According to him, various aspects were taken into account for the nomination of all the candidates where PKR or Pakatan Rakyat (PR) is determined to win and continue to administer Selangor State Legislative Assemblies.

“We will hold a ceremony to reaffirm the PR candidates who are contesting in Selangor because we will be entering the 13th General Election (GE-13) as a team.

“Our aim of introducing these candidates is so that they can work as a team in Parliamentary and DUN areas which we are contesting in,” he said in a press conference after officiating the Monthly Government Department Assembly at the Silver Jubilee Hall this morning.

Meanwhile, Abdul Khalid describes his candidacy for the Port Klang DUN seat as proving PR’s seriousness in winning that seat.

In fact, according to him, he is ready to contest in the area before the nominee list was announced.

“The Port Klang seat is very sensitive. To solve problems, it requires someone who has ‘high power’. Pakatan (Rakyat) has a more proactive strategy,” he added.

Yesterday, PKR De Facto Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced a total of seven PKR leaders for Parliament and 10 candidates for the Selangor DUN who will defend their respective seats won in the 12th General Elections.

Anwar also introduced for new faces for Parliament and eight for DUN seats in the state that was won by Pakatan Rakyat (PR) previously.

Former Member of Parliament for Kapar, S Manikavasagm will move from Kapar to Bukit Malawati.
