SHAH ALAM, July 29: A total of 33 individuals who joined the Black505 assembly at Padang Merbok on 22 June were charged by the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today of the charges of illegal assembly and attempt to riot.

Among those arrested on the charge were Badrul Hisham Shaharin (Chegubard), student activist Adam Adli Abdul Halim and Muhammad Safwan Anang.

When contacted by TVSelangor, Chegubard said that they were charged on one count for being involved in an illegal assembly, while 17 other participants are faced with two charges on attempting to riot.

“We convened at 8.30am, but the court only started proceedings at 1.30pm.

“The two charged were imposed on the 17 people while the 33 people (charged today) were charged on one charge,” he said.

Judge Mat Chani Abdullah allowed them to be released on bail of RM2,000 per person.

He set for the trial to begin on 19 August.

Last Monday, seven people, including Rafizi Ramli and Anthony Loke, as the organisers of the assembly, were charged under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
