SHAH ALAM, 3 Jan: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is seen as remaining silent when they still fail to conduct an investigation regarding the purchase of a RM110 million luxury condominium by Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor’s son.
The PKR Youth (AMK) Chief, Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, said that many reports have been made to the MACC regarding Rosmah’s extreme wealth, including the purchase of a RM24 million ring, but until now, no action has been taken.
He said that the MACC should be stern regarding the issue because it involves the family of the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, the person responsible for managing the nation’s wealth.
“Starting with the ring issue and the previous commotion in Parliament about Rosmah using the jet to go to Qatar, but still, no action has been taken by the MACC.
“Now, her son is excessively spending like his mother (Rosmah). I do not know if her son saved the same (as Rosmah)…,” he said, quoted from the Keadilan Daily report today.
Previously, the Sarawak Portal portal revealed Riza Shahriz Abdul Aziz bought a condominium unit costing RM110 million (USD33.5 million) in New York on 19 November 2012.
The condominium is said to be the most expensive and exclusive in the world, in addition to having 15 rooms with an area of 7,738 square feet and a stunning view from the 1,244 square feet balcony.
Riza Shahriz is Rosmah’s eldest son from her first marriage and the stepson of Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
At the same time, Shamsul, who is also the Member of Parliament for Bukit Katil, urged the MACC to take serious action by investigating Riza Shahriz’s financial resources to determine whether there was abuse of power involving Rosmah.
“I challenge the MACC to act, or at least perform an initial action by getting a statement from Riza SHahriz,” he said.
Media reports also said that the 36-year-old man worked in the banking industry in London and he collected his wealth in real estate equities.
Rosmah’s son also own Red Granite which produced the latest film starring the Hollywood star, Leonardo DiCaprio, “Wolf on Wall Street”.
