Should Not Involve Anwar and Captain Zaharie in the Disappearance of MH370

SHAH ALAM, 17 Mar: Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said that it was not appropriate to associate him with the disappearance of the MH370 aircraft by making wild accusations that he was the reason why the pilot of MH370, Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah, is linked with the disappearance of the aircraft, which has been missing since 8 March.

Anwar denied that the disappearance of the aircraft is related to Zaharie’s disappointment on Court of Appeal’s decision to convict Anwar on charges of sodomy and sentenced him to five years in jail, a day before MH370 departed for Beijing.

“The aircraft went missing because the pilot was disappointed that I am going to be imprisoned; I thought they were just playing but they are seriously accusing me.

“Media agencies from around the world are questioning the possibility that the pilot was so sad and decided to hijack the aircraft because Anwar was sentenced to five years in jail,” he said, quoted from Sinar Harian, when presenting a talk at Sungai Chua, Kajang, yesterday.

In relation to that, he has requested to not be associated with the incident that has broken the hearts of the families of passengers and observers from around the world.

Anwar said that the situation (his conviction) was shared by millions of Malaysians, not just the pilot of MH370.

“But sadness is not expressed by stealing a plane. Taxi drivers are sad too, but they do not go knocking down people.

“The by-election is between Azizah and Mei Fun, not a personal matter and we are not attacking policies,” he said.
