Selangor & NGOs work hard to send RM1 of medical supplies to Gaza

SHAH ALAM, 8 Aug: The Selangor Government and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) pledge to find their way across the Rafah border to allow medical supplies worth RM1 million to be channelled to the victims of Israeli’s military aggression in Gaza.

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that the closure of the Rafah border by the Egyptian government caused humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza to not be channelled, thus angering him.

“My friends and I are trying to open the road in Rafah which has been closed, and sometimes, I am a little impatient with Egypt because they are not concerned about neglected Muslims.

“Every time I meet with the Egyptian Commissioner, I remind him, sometimes a little too hard, that he would humiliate Muslims if he does not dare to carry out such tasks,” said Abdul Khalid.

Abdul Khalid said this at the Selangor the Land of Luck and Gaza Premier Prayers which were held at the Selangor Chief Minister’s official residents last night.

He added that countries in the Islamic world should rise up and unite to stop the atrocities carried out by the Israeli military against Palestinians.

“So, let us come together a little with the State Government in making some plans including sending medicine even though medicine cannot reach them because it is restricted.

“We tried to carry out some programmes which I and Yang Mulia Raja Idris came up with together on how to send RM1 million worth of medicine,” said Abdul Khalid.

When touching on the unity among religions in this country, especially in Selangor, Abdul Khalid said that the act of insulting and damaging Islam by any party cannot be compromised.
