SHAH ALAM, 4 Dec: The state government plans to establish laws so that local authorities can seize business premises that resume business despite foreclosure action being taken.

The Exco for Local Government, Legalising Illegal Factories and New Village Development, Ean Yong Hian Wah, said that this is because there are premises that stubbornly continue their businesses despite being ordered to stop all activities.

“Yes, there are issues when foreclosure action is taken against a premises, but after that, they still continue to conduct business.

“Usually we get complaints or feedback from residents and related parties, so we extend this matter so that special laws can be created for local authorities to seize these premises,” he said.

He said this when replying to a verbal question from Shuhaimi Shafiei (PKR-Sri Muda) during the Selangor State Assembly session today.

Elaborating, Ean (DAP-Seri Kembangan) said that the state government will impose seizure under the provisions of the Beauty Centre By-laws on premises found to be conducting business without licence.

He said that of traders violate the terms of the licence, then the act of closing the premises must be done.

“Cooperation between agencies must also be held to combat the problems with the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP), the Selangor Immigration Department and the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS),” he added.
