The Sultan of Selangor’s private secretary, Datuk Mohamed Munir Bani, in a media statement, said that the retraction of the Seri Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah (S.S.S.A.) award was decided by the Sultan of Selangor after consulting with the Selangor Royal Council.

He said that the award which was granted in 1992 was withdrawn by the Selangor Palace following Anwar’s actions and conduct since late 2013 which questioned the authority of the Sultan of Selangor and the Royal Institution.

It is related to the problem of the appointment of the Chief Minister of Selangor and matters related to Islam where the Sultan has executive power as the Religious Leader.
