Selangor becomes a PR ‘trademark’ in managing post-flood aid if they capture Putrajaya

KUALA KANGSAR, 19 Jan: Selangor’s ability to manage post-flood aid should be made an example by the federal government and other state governments.

The Gantang Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, said that the Selangor government’s ability under the administration of Chief Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali to manage post-flood aid in Kelantan and Perak has become a ‘trademark’ of Pakatan Rakyat’s (PR) ability if they successfully capture Putrajaya.

“This is PR’s ‘trademark’. It means that we have started with assistance from Selangor to state governments, especially heavy ones like Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang.

“They (federal government) have neglected post-flood victims when, at this moment, a lot of help and contributions are needed because they have suffered shock and how to rebuild their lives.

“The presence of Mohamed Azmin also inspired them to continue to live,” he said when welcoming the Selangor Chief Minister with volunteers at Kampung Senggang yesterday.

Mohammad Nizar also urged the people to eradicate the thought that only Barisan Nasional (BN) is able to manage issues related to flooding in the country.

“If natural disaster happens, we are concerned about the people’s suffering. For them (federal government), no. To provide aid to the people they have to wait for Najib to play golf first, only then can assistance be provided. Even then, it is only a little, not so serious.

“Most of the leaders that came during the floods only took pictures, were on television and then they went back,” he said.

Selangor also managed post-flooding with the help of basic necessities such as school supplies, stoves, gas tanks, cleaning equipment and labour, as well as machinery from state local authorities, in addition to donating RM1.5 million to the governments of Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Perak.
