SHAH ALAM, 23 Mar: Private property developers who have already received planning approval to build affordable homes are given until the end of this year to obtain planning permission from the Selangor government.

The Exco for Housing, Building Management and Urban Living, Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad, said that if developers fail to do so, then their application to build these types of housing will be withdrawn and blacklisted.

However, he said that so far no developers have been blacklisted and will be given a period of time to implement the prescribed conditions.

“So far, 42 developers have received planning approval since 2009.

“We have discussed with the developers and many have agreed to do so (build affordable housing) but have postponed (due to certain reasons),” he said after attending the Selangorku Homes Launching and Registration Ceremony at Bandar Rimbayu, Telok Panglima Garang, yesterday.

The Selangor government aims to build 15,000 units of Selangorku Homes in two year.

So far, over 11,000 affordable housing units have been built by the state government.
