Pity students who only have a meal a day, GST can still be postponed

SHAH ALAM, 30 Mar: The central government can still postpone the implementation of the goods and services tax (GST) although there is only one day more before it is implemented.

The Exco for Youth Development, Sports, Culture and Entrepreneurship Development, Amirudin Shari, said that this is because the GST will affect all groups of people, including students.

“The cost of living has already increased to a point where some students only have one meal a day.

“When the GST is implemented, it would certainly burden them and campaigns and half-baked statements by ministers are only attempts to mislead the people who are already aware of this trick.

“If the central government wants to withdraw it, they can do it, but the issue is whether they are putting the interests of the people first or not,” said Amirudin when contacted by Selangor Kini.

Amirudin added that the Federal Government should address the issue of leakages, corruption and wastage.

He explained that the Federal Government can save billions of Ringgit if the problem of leakages, wastage and corruption can be overcame.
