SHAH ALAM, 13 Mar: The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) received the Abdul Rahman Auf Award 2014 from the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) at the LZS Awards and Appreciation Event 2014 recently as an agent in helping spread information of Zakat, thus improving the overall Zakat collection in Selangor.

The PKNS Public Relations Manager, Ishak Hashim, said that the award was given to the corporation for their contribution in efficient management and redistribution of Zakat, consistent business Zakat payment and providing salary deduction facilities for their employees. These are the factors that entitled them to receive the award.

“At the same time, PKNS carries our various corporate social responsibilities (CSR) that provides a major impact to PKNS and the communities, especially communities in Selangor.

“In addition, the recognition is also being given to PKNS for the frequency of Zakat management meetings that are carried out consistently by the PKNS Zakat Management Committee,” he said.

Ishak said that PKNS, which received the award for the category of Business Zakat Payment, is among 24 organisations and individuals who have received awards for their contribution in missionary efforts and an increase in collection and distribution of Zakat in Selangor.

The award was presented by the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) Chairman cum LZS Deputy Chairperson, Datuk Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa, to PKNS, which was represented by the General Manager, Azlan Md Alifiah.

The event was held to give special recognition to audit and tax firm representatives, companies, banks, post offices, Amil assistants from higher education institutions, Fitra and rice. Also celebrated were corporate companies that pay the business Zakat and employers who have made Zakat payments through salary deductions at LZS.
