Private sector can work together to realise electric buses

PETALING JAYA, 24 Mar: The private sector is encouraged to work with the state government in realising the use of electric buses in the state through sponsorship because it would involve a high cost.

The Exco for Investment, Industry, Commerce and Transport, Datuk Teng Chang Khim, said that they will discuss with the central government so that the suggestion can be considered.

“I still see the preparation for the implementation of the initiative, however the provision of the bus involves a very high cost.

“We are still discussing with various parties and we are still looking for parties that can help us or sponsor the provision of the transport, especially in dense areas such as Klang and across the Federal Highway,” he said.

He said this after officiating the Urban Transport Towards Sustainable City seminar and workshop at the Banquet Hall, Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ).

Previously, the Bukit Gasing Assemblyman, Rajiv Rishyakaran, also proposed that the use of electric buses should be implemented in Petaling Jaya, especially due to the dense population, thus reducing traffic congestion.
