Tian Chua: ‘Lacky’ issue not the job of the Penang police

SHAH ALAM, 7 May: The Penang police abused their power when they asked the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, to apologise to the Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

The PKR Vice President, Tian Chua, said that the police acted unprofessionally by threatening to open an investigation on the top leader of Selangor.

“The police should investigate other criminal cases because Mohamed Azmin’s statement has nothing to do with crime.

“Unless if he damaged the vehicle of the IGP’s car or performed any criminal act, then it can be investigated,” he told Selangor Kini.

He was commenting on the statement by the Penang Police Chief, Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi, who gave Mohamed Azmin a week to publicly apologise to Khalid.

6.2

Otherwise, Abdul Rahim said that investigation papers against the Chief Minister will be opened immediately.

Elaborating, Tian Chua said that the statement ‘Umno’s lackey’ was more of a personal issue and does not affect any institution.

“If the IGP indeed feels insulted by the question, he can see Mohamed Azmin personally or make an application to sue.

“There is no need to mobilise all members of the police force to investigate something that is not a crime,” he said.
