The Corporate Communications Head, Norfiza Mahfiz, said that MPK takes the matter seriously and is actively addressing it though proactive methods.

“MPK will continue to carry out aggressive monitoring because the irresponsible act may cause many diseases and is an eyesore,” she said in a statement.

Earlier, Norfiza said that a lorry was stopped in a raid after being found to dump construction waste at one of the locations.

She said that the vehicle was seized under the Waste Collection, Disposal and Removal By-laws 4 (MPK) 2007 for dumping rubbish at inappropriate places.

“So far, MPK has provided adequate bins to accommodate food waste disposal at strategic locations. So, this matter should not recur,” she said.

At the same time, MPK asked local committees to act actively in addressing illegal dumping by reporting it to the authorities at 1-800-88-23826 or 03-33748845 in the event of suspicious activity.
