SHAH ALAM, JUL 15: Closed-circuit televisions (CCTV) will be installed at low cost apartments participating in the Neighbourhood Patrol and Safety Scheme (SEROJA).
Exco for Housing, Building Management and Urban Settlement Dato’ Iskandar Samad said the programme is a State Government initiative to ensure the apartments in Selangor are safer homes.
He said the State Government has allocated RM10,000 for each apartment participating in the scheme and RM5,000 will be used to install the CCTVs.
“Residents can also purchase security patrol equipment such as batons, jackets, whistles and flashlights if they do not want the CCTV installed.
“The remaining RM5,000 will be used for residents’ community and awareness programmes,” he said in a statement.
Iskandar said the programme was implemented in collaboration with the Royal Malaysia Police.
SEROJA was first introduced in 2013 with the objective of combating burglary, theft, robbery, extortion and vandalism.
SEROJA is another State Government programme to help residents in stratified housing.
With this, he urged the Joint Management Body (JMB) and Management Council (MC) of apartments to join SEROJA by contacting Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS) or calling Encik Khairol (010-243 3400)/Lt Kamaruzzaman (013-206 9522).
Iskandar is also targeting 70 low cost apartments to join SEROJA this year.
