SUBANG JAYA, SEP 18: The delineation exercise has caused a drastic increase in the Subang Jaya constituency.

Subang Jaya Assemblyman Hannah Yeoh said that Kinrara constituency has been reduced and voters were shifted to Subang Jaya constituency.

“The suggestion will cause other USJ areas included into Subang Jaya.

“As we all know, Subang Jaya has a higher population density than other constituencies.

“If the density is too high, it will lead to all sorts of problems,” she told SelangorKini.

Viewing the move as a dirty tactic, Yeoh believed that the suggestion was also to make it difficult for Pakatan to form a government.

“I, however, am sure that we will be able to retain the seat in this constituency.

“We will only face more difficulties this time around, for instance, the existing budget will be affected. So, it is challenging,” she said.

At the same time, Yeoh as Selangor State Assembly Speaker is waiting for the issue to be discussed at the Selangor Executive Council before it is discussed at the assembly.

“Let’s wait for the Exco council to discuss it first,” she said.

The Election Commission recently suggested that as many as five parliamentary constituencies and six state constituencies in Selangor be involved in the delineation exercise.

The five parliamentary constituencies involved are Bangi (Serdang), Subang (Kelana Jaya), Petaling Jaya (Petaling Jaya Selatan), Damansara (Petaling Jaya Utara) and Sungai Buloh (Subang).

The six state constituencies involved are N.16 Sungai Tua (Batu Caves), N.21 Pandan Indah (Chempaka), N.26 Sungai Ramal (Bangi), N.36 Bandar Utama (Damansara Utama), N.45 Bandar Baru Klang (Sungai Pinang) and N52 Banting (Teluk Datuk).

The Subang parliamentary seat held by R Sivarasah will see a reduction of 73,448 voters who will be moved to Sungai Buloh.
