SHAH ALAM, 28 Dec: The vast experience of Datin Paduka Alinah Ahmad in the public service and the real estate sector is believed to bring development in a more dynamic direction to Petaling Jaya.

Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Member Richard Yeoh Yong Woi said that MBPJ employees and the residents of the city are also proud that Alinah emerged as the first woman to be appointed as Mayor.

“With her experience and excellent performance in public administration, Alinah, with the assistance of the staff of MBPJ, will continue the development of this city in a better and more modern way,” he told TV Selangor here, today.

Alinah who was the former chief executive at Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS) will assume duty a the Mayor of Petaling Jaya on January 1 next year, replacing Datuk Mohamad Roslan Sakiman.

Another Council Member, Mohd Ghazali Daud said that Petaling Jaya needs a Mayor who is rich in ideas and vision.

“As a vastly experienced government official, I am certain that many changes will be planned for the progress of Petaling Jaya in dealing with future challenges.

“Alinah will definitely continue the vision and planning which has been drafted by the previous mayor.

“Her skills in administration and management will certainly be an advantage for her and this will be beneficial to Petaling Jaya,” said the MBPJ Council Member.

Yeoh and Ghazali’s opinion was concurred by another MBPJ Council Member, Mahharul Ismail, saying that the appointment is a positive change.
