PETALING JAYA, 29 Jan: The report on the traffic flow study for the construction of the Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (Kidex) conducted by an independent consultative body appointed by the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) was fully completed earlier this month (January).

The acting mayor of Petaling Jaya, Puasa Md Taib, said that the report will be submitted to the state government for further action through the Exco meeting, at latest by the end of February.

He said that the study on the traffic flow for the expressway will be posted on the MBPJ website for reference and the public’s information.

“We have already met with the residents around the area last month after a series of meetings at the council level were held.

“After this, a paper will be made ready in February for information and if the decision and approval is done, then it will go through the Local Plan amendment to get a new plan.

“The approval depends of the state government and the central government. We only process the applications forwarded to the council,” he said.

The 13.5 kilometre expressway that costs RM2.42 billion raised various controversies and received opposition form the residents of Petaling Jaya.

However, Kidex informed that the expressway will shorten travel time by almost 25 percent between Damansara and Kinrara when it is completed in four years. In addition, the travel time from Puchong to Petaling Jaya will be reduced by up to 50 percent.

Among the areas affected by the expressway project are Petaling Jaya Selatan (PJS), the New Pantai Expressway (NPE), Section 52, Section 13, Section 14, Section 17, Section 19, the Sprint Highway and Bandar Utama, while the rest are in the Subang Jaya area.
