Rafizi Organises Fake Email Contest to Test RMP’s Consistency

PETALING JAYA, 30 Dec: The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Strategy Director, Rafizi Ramli, today organised a false email contest by offering a cash prize of RM1,000.

Rafizi said that the contest is aimed at testing whether the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP) will call up individuals convicted in sending the fake emails like they called him up and investigated him yesterday.

He said that the fake email should be addressed to the Prime Minister at the address on [email protected]; the Minister of Home Affairs ([email protected]) and the Inspector General of Police ([email protected]).

“When an Umno blog create a fake email addressed to me about plans to plant a bomb in a number of places in Kuala Lumpur, the RMP, without prior investigation on the validity of the designed email, called me up to give a statement and I was investigated.

“Until now, the Investigating Officer who took my statement, ASP Anand from the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters), cannot confirm whether I am called as a witness or a suspect,” he said in a press conference at the PKR headquarters today.

He said that because the RMP’s approach is to investigate those linked with the fake email instead of the one who created the fake email, the people should test the consistency of the RMP in investigating all fake emails, even those involving ministers.

In addition to addressing it to the three leaders above, participants are also required to send a copy to [email protected] to be published on the emailpalsu.blogspot.com blog.

In the contest, which is open from 30 December to 6 January, participants are free to write on any topic, as long as it does not violate the country’s laws

Rafizi said that entries will be judged by taking into account the humour and the relevance of the email with current issues of the country.

“Sometimes if we take their actions too seriously, we can go mad and because of that, we sometimes need to entertain their ‘humour’ this way,” he said.
