AMK Launches People’s Complaints, Submits Memorandum to MDTCC

PUTRAJAYA, 10 Jan: Today, the Keadilan Youth (AMK) launched the AMK People’s Complaints programme to provide a platform for consumer complaints regarding the increase in price of goods and services, which is seen as very burdensome.

The AMK Deputy Chief, Nazree Yunus, said that all complaints received will be forwarded to the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism (MDTCC) for further action.

He said that the public can send complaints through four channels available: the SMA hotline at 011-1091 100, email to [email protected], twitter@aduanrakyatAMK and the AMK People’s Complaints Facebook page (Aduan Rakyat AMK).

“AMK is ready to mediate to express the people’s complaints, which the MDTCC did not previously realise or did not reach the ministry.

“This is an initiative to help the people face the increasing price of goods and cost of living,” he said.

Earlier, Nazree and several members of AMK visited the MDTCC to hand over the People’s Complaints memorandum, which was received by the MDTCC Deputy Secretary General, Datuk Basaruddin Sadali.

Among others, the memorandum suggested for a People’s Cost Consultative Council to be established to address the increasing price of goods and services.

“The council may involve various parties such as ministries, the people, consumer associations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), political parties, the manufacturing sector, suppliers, wholesalers and retailers.

“They need to examine, research and review views from the public before and action concerning consumer rights is implemented, including the issue of the increase in price of goods and cost,” he said.

Nazree said that AMK is also ready to be a member of the council or participate in any effort by the federal government in finding the best formula to ensure the cost of living and increasing price of goods can be reduced immediately.
