She said that she is looking for an MACC chief who will resign if there is interference in his work.

Ambiga also said that she is looking for a prime minister who will say he is willing to be investigated and declare his assets,

Ambiga said this when launching the new anti-corruption watchdog – the Centre for Combating Corruption and Cronyism (C4) at Bukit Kiara yesterday.

Ambiga, who is a senior lawyer and the former Bar Council President, said that the Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 allowed the commission’s investigations to force those holding public office to declare their assets.

“In recent years, there has been increasing pressure on the MACC to use it full power to combat huge corruption cases by political elites.

“The MACC is seen to be “tying its own hands” by claiming it did not have prosecutorial powers. This Act also enables MACC investigators to force civil servants to declare their assets.

“They (MACC officials) are worried (asset declarations) will endanger the safety (of those being investigated,” she said, quoted from Malaysia Kini.
