MBSA Gives Free Umbrellas to Payers of the Assessment Tax

SHAH ALAM, 17 Jan: The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) will be giving away free umbrellas to every property owner that pays their assessment tax in compliance with the stated requirements.

The Deputy Corporate Director, Shahrin Ahmad, said that property owners who qualify to receive the umbrellas need to pay the assessment tax for a period of one year (2014) with a total of over RM100, and should not have arrears for previous years.

Shahrin said that MBSA is also providing 44 channels for the public to remit the assessment tax, among them is paying at the Main Counter at Wisma MBSA and the MBSA Branch Offices in Kota Kemuning, Sungai Buloh and Setia Alam.

“Property owners can also settle their assessment at all Local Authority counters in Selangor by cash only.

“Property owners can also settle the assessment tax bill at local agencies such as Post Offices in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya; Tenaga Nasional Berhad and Telekom Malaysia Berhad for the area of Shah Alam only, by bringing with them the original assessment bill on or before 28 February,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Shahrin also reminded property owners under the areas administered by MBSA to settle their assessment tax for the first term to avoid action being taken against those who fail to pay the assessment prior to or on 28 February.

“The payment of this tax is important to enable MBSA to manage domestic garbage collection, cleaning and to maintain public infrastructure such as roads, street lights, drains and the construction of more public parks and playgrounds.

“The collection of this assessment tax can also help MBSA to manage the city of Shah Alam more efficiently, thereby providing comfort, peace and harmony in the community, especially those residing here,” he said.
