Anwar ‘Admits Defeat’ if Contesting Against Lee Chong Wei

KAJANG, 4 Feb: The Kajang State Legislative Assembly (DUN) candidate, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim ‘admits defeat’ if badminton champion, Datuk Lee Chong Wei, contested in a badminton match against him.

Anwar stressed that he will not pull out or admit defeat in the election clash in response to allegations and suggestions put forward by Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders if the badminton champion is placed as a candidate against him.

The Opposition Leader said that he is a fan of Chong Wei in badminton and he believed that the world number one player will make a wise judgement.

“I happen to be a fan of Chong Wei and I will admit defeat in badminton. In politics, I have confidence and I am confident that Chong Wei will bless my contesting,” he said when speaking at Taman Mesra yesterday.

The Member of Parliament for Permatang Pauh also commented on BN’s modus operandi of recycling campaign attacks against Anwar through the sex video and the Defamation II case.

“Media attacks scorn and disgrace. In fact, Umno has yet to change their method in every election since 15 years ago. The sex defamation case began from waking hours to sleep, they still think of sex.

“Every time there is an election, this is the expected method; which is sex is not over. I leave it to Allah and to you to discern,” he said.

Anwar said that he only met the former Kajang Assemblyman, Lee Chin Cheh, two hours before he handed in the letter of resignation.

“I only met Chin Cheh one to two hours before he submitted the letter of resignation. Some attack and are distracted, some even say that I am greedy but I do not want to answer if it is ill-intended.

“I am not offended if anyone asked. It is not true that there is a clash between two leaders and I do not have to get involved,” he said.

He also praised the leadership qualities of the Chief Minister of Kelantan, Datuk Bendahara Setia Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat who fended BN attacks alone all this while and it is time for Selangor and Penang to face the same things after winning since 2008.
