MB: PKNS Contract Staff Issue Does Not Affect PKR’s Chance to Win Kajang By-Election

SHAH ALAM, 7 Feb: The contract termination of over 20 staff from the subsidiary company of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) does not affect PKR’s chance to win in the Kajang State Legislative Assembly (DUN) By-Election.

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that the people would have more confidence in the transparent administration practiced by the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) government.

He said the decision to terminate the contracts needs to be done in the name of integrity despite facing the Kajang by-election.

“But it feels like the people in Kajang would like it more because the state funds can be saved. Not only do the people in Kajang, but people from the whole of Selangor would certainly like it because we do it transparently,” he said in a press statement at the State Government Secretary’s (DUK) Building yesterday.

Earlier, he clarified that the contract termination of 22 employees of PKNS Holdings is consistent with the PKNS Integrity Pact and it will save RM7 million a year in operating costs.

He said that the action was also taken because there was an overlap in duties and responsibilities between contractual staff and permanent staff.

At the same time, Abdul Khalid dismissed allegations by certain quarters that he is cruel and ruthless in the move.

“If I was cruel, the would not be anyone of them who receive up to RM60,000. We also made sure that everything is done according to procedure, otherwise, they can take this matter to court,” he said.
