SHAH ALAM, 13 Feb: The Selangor Government is trying to help the original residents of Bukit Botak obtain their homes as soon as possible.
The Assemblyman for Taman Templer, Zaidy Abdul Talib, said that despite the housing at Bukit Botak have been successfully constructed and are starting to be occupied, there are still residents there who have failed to obtain their homes dues to bank constraints.
He said that there are about 50 to 70 residents who are facing problems with banks; with failing to obtain loans due to the age factor.
“It is the intention if the State Government for the original residents of Bukit Botak be given each a residential unit, as promised previously by the BN government, and then abandoned.
“When Pakatan took over the reins of the state government, the redevelopment projects were taken over by the state government and it will not be done half-way,” said Zaidy, quoted from Harakah Daily.
According to Zaidy, the age factor is why most of the residents who failed to obtain bank loans, in addition to their children or beneficiaries having high monthly commitments, making it difficult to apply for loans.
However, he said that the problem is being finalised by the state government through several negotiations with the bank, the land office and other agencies, to ensure that the wishes of the people are met.
The Bukit Botak issue has lasted for over 20 years and has successfully been resolved by the Selangor government in stages, over a period of three years, when Pakatan Rakyat took over the reins of administration from BN.
Previously, BN was not able to solve the relocation problem for 2,300 families in Bukit Botak, with an area of 201 hectares.
